About Us
The story behind our mission to develop Acadiana's next generation of leaders
Our Story
Too many young people in Acadiana were coming home to environments without positive direction, enriching activities, or role models. Founded in 2014 by Dr. Erica Williams and recognized as a 501(c)(3) in 2016, New Vision was created to change that — giving youth the tools to thrive and lead.
What started as a grassroots initiative has grown into a comprehensive leadership program connecting youth with colleges, careers, technology, government, and service opportunities.

Mission & Vision
Our Mission
To educate, expose, and empower at-risk youth in Acadiana with the experiences, skills, and mentorship to become confident, capable leaders.
Our Vision
A community where every young person in Acadiana can see beyond their circumstances, believe in their potential, and access pathways to a purposeful life.
The Three E's
Our philosophy is built on three interconnected pillars that guide everything we do
Education
College readiness, STEM workshops, financial literacy, and academic mentoring that give youth the knowledge to succeed in higher education and beyond.
Exposure
College visits, aviation, government close-ups, and career shadowing that expand what youth see as possible for their lives.
Empowerment
Leadership training, community service, and civic engagement that help youth discover their strength and the courage to lead.

A Leader Building Leaders
Dr. Erica Williams founded New Vision with a personal mission: ensuring Lafayette Parish youth have the guidance, opportunities, and role models to change their life trajectories.
With a background in Public Policy Management and Leadership, Dr. Williams brings academic expertise and community passion to her work. Her career in education, mentoring, and public policy gives her a unique perspective on the challenges facing at-risk youth — and real solutions.
"I saw students coming home to environments with no guidance, no activities, and no role models. I wanted to give them a chance to see places and meet people that could change how they think about their future."
Under her leadership, New Vision has grown from a grassroots initiative — funded by car washes and funnel cake sales — into a recognized community partner collaborating with corporations, universities, and government agencies across Acadiana.
